Jersey finished 2009 as the #10 Akita in breed points, and #17 in All-breed points, having not even shown 6 months of the year. She was as near to perfect as an Akita can get, and is so sadly missed by us, her Akita family here at Gekko, and by fellow exhibitors and fanciers of all breeds.

Jersey was not yet 2 years old, and was the #1 Akita bitch and #4 Akita,
at the time of her untimely and tragic death due to the criminal neglect
of her handler, Mary Wild. Mary Wild is the handler in the photos on this page.

Mary Wild was convicted on all 8 counts of criminal animal abuse
on June 4, 2010. Additionally, the American Kennel Club (AKC) has suspended Mary Wild for life. Below is copied from the AKC November 2010 Board Minutes:

"The Appeals Committee denied Ms. Wild’s appeal. The committee’s decision was reported as follows:

"The Appeals Committee of the Board considered Ms. Mary Wild’s appeal
of a suspension that was imposed because she violated the AKC’s Cruelty Convictions Policy. Specifically, the Appeals Committee considered that Ms. Wild was convicted of eight counts of animal abuse (knowingly failing to provide adequate care). As a result, the Appeals Committee determined
that Ms. Wild’s conduct was prejudicial to the sport of purebred dogs and
her suspension was properly imposed. The committee further considered the penalty which was imposed and concluded that it was appropriate.
Ms. Wild was suspended for life, effective August 9, 2010 and
a $3,000 fine was imposed."

Jersey was truly wonderful, and a delight in every way. We hope to find some peace to be able to express our reflections of this wonderful girl some day.
